The key chain I got almost 9 years ago fell apart this morning . I got it after my third year at Georgia Tech, the semester after I threw up a 2.25 GPA. So you could say it was a present to myself after I passed all most of my classes.
In truth, I got it to have something to put my keys on because I couldn’t have one lose key in my pocket. After college, i t got put in a drawer then into a box, until I pulled it out when I got a 3 series back in 2017.
I put the pin back in and put some gorilla glue on it, so hopefully it’ll hold together for a few more years.

It’s funny how some items we try to squeeze all the life out of that we can. I had t-shirts at work that the colla r looked like mice tried eating it until a coworker called me out on my unsatisfactory attire.

that’s what happens when you don’t buy an E46

I was thinking the same thing. I also had considered replacing this, but then it’s not the same one that I had when I was in college. I guess I am sentimental about somethings.

Keychains all go to utter shit in men’s pockets. I’m envious that women get to toss them in a purse. Not really, but sometimes.
My 2001 keychain no longer holds the keys, so it’s a fob plus a bunch of keys. But I’m sort of playing a game of “how many expenses can I defer on this car so I can buy what I want? ”
My latest target is a last-gen X3 (because the wagons are all gone), but only with the N55 turbo. I’ve always wanted that engine and might be able to overlook the crossover packaging to get it. Fully loaded.
After driving a few Audi, VW, and BMW models, I just can’t even four cylinder. I’m too spoiled by smoothness and they all sound like rattly econoboxes to me.

My dad wants an X5, and after his good experience with the N55 in his 1, he’s looking at those. I steered him away from the V8s.

I like the 5, but it’s just a wee bit too much vehicle for me (and not much interior difference than the X3 for the extra cash). I finally just asked myself “If this is the last internal combustion engine I ever buy, what will it be?” and the answer was suddenly clear. EVs will eventually take over, but not yet.
(I’m 41 and have owned 3 cars, so I’m definitely a long-termer)

Hey man, nobody said you couldn’t wear a purse

I’m turning 30 in two months and I’m at 4 cars. One was the Explorer I got as my first car and another was the 128i I got rid of after 8 months because I was unemployed. The other two, M3 and 328i, I’ve had 5.5 years and just under 3 years, respectively . My family likes to keep cars for the long haul.

You can still buy a 3 series wagon. This generation and last generation.

I can’t even imagine getting into a different car every 3-5 years. I feel like that’s barely enough time to get to know the car (and, more important, for stuff to start wearing out so you can replace it with better stuff!)

No regrets for me going for a 6 cyl X3 over a 4 cyl wagon! Oddly enough I think X3s got the best “outside voice” of any N55.

I’ve searched for about a year and found one 3-series (2015-16), but it was meh. The main problem I’ve found shopping for wagons is just the lack of availability. 1:100 vs their crossover counterparts. I finally realized I was just being culturally obstinate.

It sounds like you need a fanny pack.
Or start wearing a kilt so you can put your keys in a sporran.

All of my key setups are car key or fob, work fob, house key, tile. Cept the 02 that is work fob, house key, ignition key, right door key, left door key, trunk key, gas cap key...

Who needs pockets when you have belt loops? C arabiners FTW! I’ve been carrying my keys like a janitor for as long as I’ve had keys to stuff.

I need to do that. I have tons of genuinely worn carabiners that I would never climb on again. STREET CRED.
(The main problem right now , though, is the loop on the fob has come loose, beyond repair)
